It's time to register for the School of Discipleship!

FROM PASTOR STEVE

The School of Discipleship is all about helping establish people in the faith! It’s more than just learning information. It’s about answering Jesus’ call when He said, “Follow Me.” (See Matthew 16:24)

This is not “school” as usual! It’s the process of knowing what the Bible teaches, becoming who we are called to be, and doing what God has destined us to do. We are His workmanship created for His glory! (See Ephesians 2:10)

We’re living in a time when the truth of the Gospel is getting challenged all around us. God is calling us to get rooted, established, and built up in Him! (See Colossians 2:6-8)

Let’s further answer God’s call to live as authentic disciples who learn, follow, and multiply others who follow Jesus! There’s no better time! Let’s go for it and allow the Lord to further mature us as His Church!

Excited in Jesus,

Steve Hannett

Summary

FAQ

When will the School of Discipleship take place?

Classes take place on select Sunday evenings at 6:30 pm. The first course will consist of 8 sessions, taking us through to the end of the year. Classes are scheduled for the following Sundays*.

Where will classes take place?

Classes will occur at the Abundant Grace Church building located at 70 Home Avenue, Rutherford, NJ. Zoom meetings will be provided for those who are unable to attend in person.

Who can attend class by Zoom?

We strongly believe that being together in person provides a much higher quality learning experience. It gives the chance to experience God's presence, interact with one another, and enter into deep and meaningful dialogue with each other. We strongly encourage all who can attend classes in person.

We understand there are some who live far away and may have other extenuating circumstances that would make it difficult to attend in person. In these cases, we will enable participation via Zoom.

Who is eligible to join the School of Discipleship?

The school and courses are designed for new, growing, and matured believers. All people from ages 13 and older can join.

All those under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult or receive permission from Abundant Grace if a minor participates in a class without a parent.

Those who may not be a part of the Abundant Grace Church family are welcome to attend with the permission of their home church (if applicable).

How long is each class?

Each class is planned to last from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Who will be teaching?

Pastor Steve and a team of ministers from Abundant Grace and the Gospel Mission Network will be teaching courses. The school will also release special guests from time to time.

Is the School of Discipleship accredited?

The School of Discipleship is not accredited. Students who complete courses will receive a certificate of completion.

The School of Leadership is accredited through our partnership with BILD Inter-national.

What can I expect to be doing as a School of Discipleship student?

Each class will be filled with various things such as testimonies, hands-on work, lectures, dis-cussion, and practicum. Each student will be expected to faithfully complete assigned read-ing with occasional assignments to cultivate wisdom and faith. We believe Christianity is not just about "hearing" and "knowing" information. It's about becoming and doing the work of the Lord. "Following" Jesus is a verb, and our school is aimed to activate and release disciples to live out their faith! This is the fun part!

Sunday Services, Houses of Transformation (Hotspots), & the School of Discipleship

Abundant Grace has been diligently seeking the Lord to best structure God's ministry for effective ministry and mission development. We believe the Holy Spirit works through a variety of venues to complete the fullness of His work. Thus, we are deploying various strategic initiatives, all meant to work together to provide ample opportunity for personal and corporate development.

Sunday Morning
Sunday morning services are meant to be a time of corporate celebration, encouragement, equipping, & worship.

Hotspots
Houses of Transformation are meant to cultivate and mature small faith communities into a network of Abundant Grace House-type Churches. They provide a place for deep fellowship, prayer, learning, and shepherding. (See Acts 2:42-47) Just as in the book of Acts, Church communities formed in the home and served as mission centers where people met the Lord Jesus and did life together as they followed Christ in a family-based household of faith.

School of Discipleship
The School of Discipleship is meant to be a place of focused ordered learning. Each course is aimed to build a person's character, doctrine, and ministry skills by providing an ordered process of learning and faith development. The curriculum is aimed to prepare a person from being brand new in the faith to growing into ministry leaders fulfilling their destinies in Christ.

Summary
We aim to reach and love people in Hotspots, establish them in the discipleship school, and worship together on Sunday morning services!
